A wonderfully luxurious home, built by Don Skirrow for a Parade of Homes, is located just off Chalk Knoll and Ravello Ridge Drive in a gated community. The original owners have meticulously maintained the home, so it's virtually like new throughout. Set beside the 4th fairway of the Fazio Foothills golf course, the home offers wonderful, expansive views of the course and the surrounding countryside. And it’s hardly more than a golf ball’s throw from the Barton Creek Country Club and Resort.
Facing Ravello Ridge Cove, a short cul-de-sac, the front of the home remains remarkably well hidden from passers by and maintains quiet privacy for its owners and those fortunate enough to be invited into the home. The huge 3-car garage is entered from the Ravello Ridge Drive side, so the garage entrance and its driveway do not detract from the beauty of the main entrance and the long drive up to the circle at the front of the home.
The lot of 1.551 acres includes a setback of 35 feet from the edge of the golf course and has enough area within the building envelope to put a small guest house at the rear of the home, beside the golf course. The home itself has been oriented so that errant golf balls will not cause damage.
The entire area around the home has been completely and extravagantly landscaped with trees, shrubs and flowering plants. Automatic landscape lighting can come on at night if desired.
The limestone and stucco front of the home is very handsome, yet it only begins to hint at the size and sumptuous elegance of the interior. The floor plan is excellent: open and flowing from one area to another with the public and private areas are nicely separated while still accessible. Within the 6,391 square feet (per TCAD) are these principal rooms and some of the exceptional features found in the home, many of which are shown in the photographs above:

The Formal Living Room just beyond the Foyer, has marble floors, three sets of large French doors opening to the rear covered terrace, and a wonderful carved marble fireplace. Though a formal room, it manages to be open and inviting to guests.
The large Family Room has cherrywood floors, beamed ceiling, a brick fireplace and large windows overlooking the pool and golf course. An entertainment center and close proximity to the kitchen make it a great place to relax with good friends and watch a game or play cards.
The large Formal Dining Room has indirect lighting recessed above the crown molding and a beautiful chandelier. The Butler's Pantry at one end of the Dining Room has built-in cabinets inside an archway. It offers a place to store china and glassware and also set dishes with food on the way from the kitchen to a dinner under way in the dining room. The glass doors of the upper cabinets are nice a place to display beautiful glassware and china.
A well appointed Gourmet Kitchen is in keeping with the rest of this luxurious home. In addition to the center island with sink and dishwasher, there are de rigeur granite countertops and hand painted cabinets. Appliances include a Thermador 6-burner cooktop with griddle set into a brick archway, dual Thermador ovens, built-in microwave and GE Monogram wood paneled refrigerator. Overhead is a beamed ceiling and a large, ornate iron pot rack suspended over the center island. This room opens onto the breakfast area, beyond which is the Family Room.
The Home Theater has 2 rows of terraced, comfortable, fold-up theater seats for 10 and is large enough to hold quite a few more if chairs are added. There's a Faroudia Projector and DVD player to project films and videos onto the extra large screen. This equipment is remote controlled, as is the theater lighting. A closet opening off the theater gives access to the front of the CD, DVD, amplifiers and other equipment. A door in the garage allows access to the back of the closet and the wiring behind the equipment.
An Office or Library is located off the hallway between the Kitchen and the Formal Dinng Room. Not in the main flow of traffic, this was meant as a quiet place to work or read. At the same time, it's large enough to handle a group of four or more for a meeting if needed. A hand-painted frieze along the top of the walls, a recessed ceiling, large front-facing windows and built-in bookshelves all work together to create a very attractive and serviceable room.
A brick-walled, walk-in Wine Cellar lies several steps down from the downstairs wet bar. The climate controlled environment in the cellar assures that there will be proper conditions for great wines to age over a period of years or even decades. At the same time, the capacity of 500+ bottles also gives room to store wines that are meant to be enjoyed more frequently. The wet bar itself has a granite-topped counter with a small regrigerator and icemaker.
The spacious Master Suite is downstairs in what amounts to a wing of the house. It has marble floors and high ceilings throughout. Opposite the part of the bedroom intended for beds, a fireplace has room beside it for a couple of large chairs where a couple might enjoy a cup together at the end of a day. There's also another sitting area in an alcove with a large window that gives access to the covered terrace and the swimming pool. Two walk-in closets, one with cedar facing on the ceiling, are on either side of hallway leading to the bath. In the bathroom, a large tub is flanked by columns and topped by a ledge of marble. The his and her separate vanities each have their own sink and there's also a separate shower. Additionally, there's a third, very large walk-in closet opening off the master bath.
The stairs lead into the Upstairs Game Room, which is centrally located with the three bedrooms around it. There's a wet bar here and room for a small refrigerator and a full-sized pool table. The Game Room leads out onto the huge 21 x 40 foot upstairs terrace that has a spectacular view of the golf course and the hills beyond. Star gazing here can be very rewarding.
The Three Guest Bedrooms upstairs are all large, with at least 9-foot ceilings, each with its own bathroom and large walk-in closet. All of these bedrooms and baths are beautifully finished out. One of the bedrooms (called the "Honemoon Suite" by the owners) opens out onto the broad upstairs terrace. The walk-in closet off this bedroom leads into an additional 10 x 12 foot storage room that has been completely finished out with a window.
One of the joys of living in this home is sitting outside on the Covered Terrace overlooking the swimming pool. With three wide arches framing the view of the pool, the fairway and the open countryside beyond, you feel like you're a hundred miles from the city. The water with its sparkling ripples reflects the blue of the sky and hardly any other homes are visible from here except at a great distance. This is where you can really relax. Electrically operated awnings shade the terrace and all of the large windows in the rear of the home. They automatically retract if the wind gets too strong for them.
Finally, the Pool offers relief from the heat and a place to completely relax. Enclosed in a completely private back yard, the pool is 16 x 36 feet with varying depth of 3½ to 6 feet. It has a pebble tech surface and steps down into the shallow end. There's also a 6 x 9 foot spa with matching tile, therapy jets and dimmable lighting. All steps and ledges have matching accent tile.
