In the midst of towering pine trees and hardwoods in the mountains of Costa Rica, there's a spot that enjoys permanent springtime. Within this magnificent 50 hectare site is a fabulous home, guesthouse, a world-class equestrian facility and productive farm. A high, relatively level site is suitable for a hotel and plans have been drawn up for just that purpose with permits executed.

The owners spent a year and a half searching Costa Rica for the perfect spot to build their dream home. They were almost ready to give up and go back to Europe when a friend told them that 50 hectares (125 acres) of land in the mountains of Barva de Heredia might be for sale.

The moment they saw it they knew it had the qualities they had been seeking: delightful climate, wonderful views, magnificent trees and a large enough area with the kind of terrain they needed to create the private, peaceful compound they had envisioned.

Part of their vision was to leave considerable space with fabulous views for a hotel, so plans for the hotel were executed along with those for the Main House and Guest House.

As they began building the Main House HORSES came into their lives in a big way! Soon they were importing Sport Horses from Europe and building an Equestrian Center that is ranked as one of the best privately owned facilities in the world. The hotel has been put on hold indefinitely, but completed plans, permits and a water supply are available to go forward with that development if one chooses to do so.

To give a sense of the scale of improvements on the estate at this time, the main house, guest house, equestrian center, terrace and gymnasium include 16 bathrooms and 6 kitchens.
