As an owner, developer, builder, salesperson and analyst, Alston has dealt with many aspects of the real estate world.  He has lived a good part of his life on farms and ranches, so he understands the special qualities of rural land. He's our specialist in investment property, having designed a number of  templates for valuing real estate for buyers and sellers on the basis of income, IRR, etc. As the former Economic Director of a financial advisory company, his knowledge of the economy is often extremely valuable in real estate.

Alston served as the National Association of Realtors President's Liaison to Central America and to several individual counties in the region. He also served as the Chairman of the International Committee of the Texas Association of Realtors for 2011. The TAR has a very close relationship with AMPI, the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals.

He’s fluent in Spanish, served 1991-2011 with MEDICO as an interpreter for medical teams in remote parts of Central America.  He also speaks French, though not as fluently as Spanish.

Barbara’s ancestors came to Austin in the late 1850s. Her father Col. J.E. Roberts had a passion for real estate and it runs in her blood. She knows all of Central Texas like the back of her hand and is famous with clients for her tours of Austin and the Hill Country. Barbara grew up in Tarrytown, attended UT-Austin, earning a BFA in art, and an MFA from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. She taught at Texas State University, then married and raised her family in West Lake Hills with her husband, Alston, a prominent Austin developer. She was a founding member and the first director of the Umlauf Sculpture Garden from 1988 to 1991, and became licensed realtor in 1992.

Barbara comes from a family of ranchers and horsewomen and has been riding since age four, was an active Dressage competitor for 25 years and lives on a horse farm on Bear Creek SW of the city.  If you are looking to buy or sell ranch or equestrian properties, Barbara is THE Austin and Hill Country expert.
